Vintage Summer Style

Bright colors for fall

Hi guys! Phew, it’s been a minute! As some of you may have noticed I’ve taken a little blogging hiatus. I started working full time again in February and in all honesty it requires a lot of my time and at the end of the day I didn’t have the energy to come home and chat about fashion. But, the good news is I’m back! 🙌🏼 I have a *little* more free time (okay, not really but I’m gonna pretend that I do) and am going to try to ease into posting 1-2 x per week again.

I think it’s important to remember that we don’t have to ALWAYS be ‘ON’ or always running at 100%. It’s okay to take breaks and give yourself what you need. Even in terms of fashion and your outfit choices. Hell, there’s always going to be a new trend or style to try and sometimes that can be tiring (and expensive!) to keep up with. For me, it’s all about balancing my basics with new accessories. For instance, my outfit here outside of my accessories are all pieces that have been in my closet for quite some time (as in at least 1 or more years). I thought I would leave you with a few quick tips on how to freshen up your summer look quick and easily -and without spending a ton!

1) Check out your local thrift store. I snagged this vintage Ralph Lauren blazer at a San Diego thrift store for $10. Honestly, the thrift is my favorite place to get blazers because you can find quality for a great price, and I love the fit of the true vintage styles.

2) Add an accessory. For me this is an easy way to living up any old outfit. At heart I am a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl but I love me some good accessories. Right now I feel like fun hair accessories are the way to go – I have some big pearl encrusted clips from Amazon and am obsessed with the top knot headbands I am wearing here. They feel a tad more vintage when paired with some dangly earrings and scream summer to me. Mine is from local Cleveland brand, The Sis Kiss, and under $20!

3) Try pairing unexpected items together. This baby t-shirt and jean skirt combo is a super 90’s look but when I throw the blazer over it I like that it makes it a little more personalized to my style. If you know you’re going to be out late and need to take a jacket try switching it up by adding something other than the one you normally reach for. It’s fun to play with proportions too – I love adding a cropped denim jacket over long slip skirts. I cropped my own with a good ole’ pair of scissors and love the frayed edge it created.

I hope you guys get some inspiration from those tips and please message me if there is anything you want to see styled in particular or with any of your fashion/style related questions!

xx
