Sweaters + Leather

Hey, hey! Can you guys believe it’s already December 3rd today? Where did the year run off to? I’m keeping things warm and cozy in this bell sleeve sweater lately.

Being that it’s December I’m reflecting back on the year a little bit. Not only on life in general and all the changes that have happened (hello moving across the country) but also on my personal style…. click ‘Continue Reading’ to read the post.

I think that sometimes in the rush to whip up new content for my blog my personal style preferences can sometimes not end up coming across like I want them to or how I envision them. Of course that could be the small part of me that has perfectionist tendencies but I think this can end up happening because I like to try new trends, shoot what’s in season, and of course make things fun and exciting for you guys. But if I am being honest – if I gathered up a bunch of ‘inspo’ fashion & style pictures they wouldn’t necessarily reflect what my outfit photos reflect. And that is something that I REALLY want to work on changing. Why shouldn’t my outfit photos reflect what inspires me and drives my passion?!

I tend to really lean towards a minimalistic style with an edge of course. Like right now I’m thinking black leather, fuzzy knits, fishnet stockings, and pops of silver or gold hardware & jewelry. You can see that come across in my photos here a bit but I couldn’t find my dang fishnets before we left the house to shoot so I opted for the polka dot tights. Which I honestly feel may have looked better with this outfit anyhow but I’ve really been in the mood for fishnets lately. Check out how this babe from June Sixty Five styled hers – this look is pretty much my style inspo for the rest of the year lol!

The more I create the more I really want to make sure what I am putting out there is one THOUSAND percent me. Not kinda me with a cute lil fall trend thrown in. And as we all know the comparison game can be REAL on Insta and I can’t lie – when all I’m seeing are these chicks in pumpkin patches with their LV totes and Starbucks cups it kind of makes me wonder. Like is that all people really want to see? A carbon copy of the next person? And I am not throwing any shade at the girls in pumpkin patches because I can’t lie – I wanted a damn photo in a pumpkin patch we just never made it lol.

With all that being said – I am looking forward to REALLY defining my personal style this month and in 2019. I hope you all hang in there with me because in all honesty it might mean a tad less content because I’m not going to shoot something I don’t feel 100 about. Orrrr – it just means that I’m gonna have to STEP.UP.MY.GAME. – just a tad 😉

Alrighty, I’m off to watch Escape at Dannemora, anyone else watching?

PS I’ve actually worn this skirt to shoot in so many times and I didn’t even buy it. One of my Aunt’s gave it to me years ago – it’s ‘vintage’ Wilson’s leather. But this Free People one looks almost identcal!

I’ve been wearing this sweater non-stop since it arrived. I had fun dressing it up here and also wear it with high waisted jeans and flats for a more casual look.

My bag is the PS 11 Tiny by Proenza Schouler – this particular style is a few years old but they have the same one in textured leather for half off on their site now.

  2. Thanks for taking the time to read. It’s so easy to get caught up in the blogging ‘rat race’ if you will but we just gotta remember why we started and stick to who we are because that’s what makes each of us so interesting. On a side note though I love both of your girls’ styles and think the individuality definitely shines through! xx
