Off We Go!

Any one of you doing some traveling this holiday season (which is so many of us!) knows the struggle of trying to maintain a semi-stylish outfit whilst keeping the comfort factor in check.

For many of my past travel years I would resort to straight up pajama status for the flight- not giving a #$@*!  Well, I guess it comes with the territory of becoming an “adult”, or let’s be real- the time of my flight is at 1 pm not 10 pm, but I don’t feel all that comfortable rocking a VS PINK sweatsuit to the airport this year, ha. In all seriousness though, I do want to be comfortable while still feeling I have some of my style identity on board with me.
To keep in comfy & stylish today I am keeping these ideas in mind while getting dressed for the airport…And in case you haven’t had your coffee yet, they might help you too!
1. Comfortable shoes, and definitely never any heels- Well I guess this could differ depending on the type of person you are. However, I tend to not wear heels all that much in my day to day life and really don’t want to picture that running through the airport trying to catch a flight. Shoes that you have already worn in are always best. You don’t want to bust out your brand new shoes on this day because chances are you will end up with aching blisters. Also, wear socks, if not, at least pack socks or slippers in your carryon in case you have a long flight and want to get really comfy.
2. Choose clothing that doesn’t have a tendency to stretch out- I am really referring to jeans here, but honestly this could be considered for tops too. It’s the worst when you are traveling in a pair of jeans and stand up from your seat to see they are now 2 sizes larger than they were when you boarded. Choose something with some built in spandex or stretchy material. This doesn’t necessarily mean “jeggings” (hey- it could if you want it to) but many jeans have a small percentage of spandex that you would notice otherwise.
3. Layers- Always wear, or at least bring, layers with you. I always like to bring a thin but oversized scarf, these come in handy and don’t take up too much space either.
4. Wear your watch– It is the worst to have to constantly dig through your bag while carrying all your crap just to see what time it is. Never underestimate the use of a watch while traveling.
5. Keep jewelry to a minimum- It is so uncomfortable to try to rest your head to the side with that cute spike earring stabbing you in the neck. When traveling I tend to wear small studs, or no earrings at all. I keep my rings to just the dainty ones if anything at all. But in case you want to head to the airport in some cute gems just be sure to bring a small zip pouch to store it in on the flight so it doesn’t get lost in the bottom of your bag.

  1. Love all of your travel tips here! I'm always really surprised at all the women I see wearing stiletto heels at the airport… I just can't get down with that. Once, I accidentally wore booties that weren't broken into yet and my feet got super swollen during the flight and the boots had NO stretch, so I was limping. It hurt to walk and collect our baggage and I was in soo much pain! Never again… Hope you had a safe and comfy trip to Ohio! Happy Holidays 🙂

  2. LOVE the Adidas you linked and totally agree with wearing sneakers (or in summers, I wear sandals). And I totally wear leggings with an oversized tunic because I tend to curl up in the airplane seats and it's just sooo uncomfortable if I'm wearing jeans. Love these tips! Totally gonna keep them in mind for my Miami trip in a couple of weeks 🙂
