How to Style a Boyfriend Blazer

Red boyfriend blazer

I’ve been a blazer fan for quite some time now and couldn’t be happier that the boyfriend blazer is having a huge moment this fall! I picked this one up in a bold red color which I thought was perfect to add a splash of color to my wardrobe. It comes in 6 different colors which I kind of feel like I need it in the ‘purple moss’ color too! I normally don’t wear a lot of red – last year I think the only red thing I wore was this red jumpsuit. So like I said on Instagram, when I do wear it – I make it count!

BTW – Do you think it was windy enough the day we shot this? LOL. I’m like yeah, let’s just go with it. Anyhow, I also wanted to share some other ideas of how to style your boyfriend blazer this fall since I have an inkling we won’t be able to pair it with a mini skirt for too much longer.

Different ways to style your boyfriend blazer:

  1. Pair with Vintage Denim – I originally had this look styled with my skinny leg 501’s but was dripping sweat before we even left the house. Ha, so yeah that wasn’t working. But as the weather starts to cool down you can style your blazer with some high waisted denim, heels, and either a chic bodysuit (like I did here) or a simple t-shirt!
  2. Belt it – There is very little I love more than throwing a chunky belt over an oversized blazer or coat. You can see how I did it earlier this year with a trench coat here. The key here is to make sure the blazer is a little oversized in fit. You don’t want the blazer too snug where it’s hard to get the lapels to meet in the middle. I prefer the blazer to be big enough to cover most of my bum. Then, pair with some faux leather pants or skinnies, add heels, and you’re out the door!
  3. Layer it over a hoodie – I love this idea for the upcoming winter months. You could literally layer your blazer over any hoodie, even a vintage one, and you’ll have an instantly chic and stylish upgrade to an otherwise extremely comfy outfit! See how Kendall Jenner did this with a red blazer too!
