If you change the way we look at things, the things we look at change‘ – Wayne Dyer

Guys – this quote has been resonating with me SO MUCH these past few days. I feel like I can’t even tell you how relevant this has become in my life lately. As most of you know, I recently made a HUGE life change and left my life (of 13 years) in Southern California and moved back to Ohio. And let me tell  you, the transition hasn’t been the easiest. It’s funny because people who see what I post on social media say things like ‘you’ve never looked happier’ and I am just over here LOL-ing. Not that I am NOT happy but guys, I left the life I knew for the past decade for a new one. And if I sat here and told you it’s all be rainbows and butterflies that would be a flat out lie. I’ve had a lot of moments where I’ve just broke down and felt sorry for myself. And to be honest, that’s not really who I am. I usually try to find the positive in every situation and am the type of person who will work a situation to make the most of it.

So…what I’ve been doing is every day I try to purposefully seek out things and people that make me happy. If you follow me on social media you might see us going to Lake Erie, the Metro Parks, Juice Shops, cute boutiques, etc. I NEED to go to these places to find some sense of normalcy. I don’t quite have my groove down in my new life so to speak but by doing these things I am CREATING my groove if that makes sense. I’ve also been listening to a TON of inspirational podcasts (Earn Your Happy, The Champagne Diet, etc), which make me feel like I can take on the world and conquer anything life throws at me.

I truly believe it’s the trying times in our lives that give us the opportunity to create something amazing. Last time I went through a really tough period in life, I applied for the same job two times in a row – ended up getting the job and went on to quadruple my initial salary there. I am not saying this time frame in my life is about money or anything material, I just have that experience to carry with me and know that by staying confident and positive I can get to wherever I want to be in life.

If you are going through a tough phase in life a few things I recommend doing are:

  1. Getting outside – go for a walk if you can or even just go sit out side and get some fresh air every day
  2. Meditation – I’ve been using the app called ‘headspace’ and am loving it so far. It starts you off with just 3 minutes a day.
  3. Seek out the things that make you happy – everything we want or need in life isn’t always going to come to us. If you have to, go find those things. For me, I know I thrive off of good energy and cute neighborhoods so it’s been important for me to find neighborhoods I love and just go walk around.
  4. Focus on your health – I know when your are going through a tough time health isn’t always at the top of your list. But if you can implement just ONE thing that you do healthy for yourself each day it can help change your mindset and outlook on life. Even something as little as taking your daily vitamin every morning, or drinking a green smoothie – these are positive things that will make you feel good!

Alright guys – later this week we’ll be back to regular outfit posts and won’t be getting as deep but I hope you guys enjoyed me keeping it real with you and can use some of the tips I’ve found helpful above.

xx

Life isn’t always going to be filled with happiness and it isn’t always going to be “perfect”, but everything you shared and you’re doing leads to finding those happy moments. It’s SO important to fill each day with positives and doing things that bring a smile to your face.

Thanks again! Sending you all the love. xo, Lydia
