Feel Comfortable + Confident in Your Clothes

I like to keep things very comfortable. How ’bout you?

Honestly, I think if you don’t feel comfortable in something you probably shouldn’t bother wearing it. Because if you don’t feel comfortable then chances are, you’re also not going to feel confident. I know I’ve talked about this before but that’s because I think it is so important to show up as your best self every day and how can we do that when we don’t feel comfortable OR confident, right?!

For me, I end up wearing a lot of the same items I feel comfortable in over and over again because I don’t have to worry about how I’ll feel when I get dressed. For instance, I’ve worn these shorts on the blog previously (you can see how I styled them here) and in real life I wear them multiple times a week. I’ve also shown you guys this scalloped cami before when I wore it in Florida – you can check that post out here. What I am getting at is that lot of people think that as bloggers we must have a new outfit every day of the week. But for me, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Of course, I love buying new things but I also like to stick with what I know feels good when I put it on.

Here’s a few tips to follow so you can always feel like your most confident self when getting dressed:

Don’t buy something just because it’s trendy – This is the worst mistake you can make. So many of us (me included) want to try out a trend so bad we end up buying something that actually looks ridiculous on us because we don’t feel 100% confident in it. Not every trend is going to be for you, and that’s okay! You have to find what fits with your personal style and what you feel good about and go with that. Take these sunglasses for instance. I KNOW not everyone likes them and my husband even makes fun of them. BUT – the most important thing is that I love them and feel good when I wear them so it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.

Get your sizing right – This one is a good one to remember! Have you ever bought a top that didn’t fit right and you have to constantly keep adjusting it all night? The cami I am wearing in these photos is a great example. I got one size too big and it kept falling down in the front so I was constantly making sure my bra wasn’t showing. I ended up tying little knots in the straps which made it naturally sit higher which as exactly what I needed. If there isn’t a quick fix like that for an item of clothing you love try taking it to your local tailor to see if they can make some adjustments. This will make all the difference!

Buy basics – Buying basics allows you to mix and match items in your closet. This makes getting dressed a lot easier when you have that black top you love that you can now wear with your white skinnies, denim skinnies, leather skirt, leather pants, etc. – You get the picture. This gives you the option to re-wear those items you KNOW you feel good in.
