Accessorize Your Way Out of an Outfit Rut

Cute bomber jacket and beret

Happy Monday babes! I wanted to start this week off with a fresh OOTD post for you guys. Hopefully this post will inspire you to pull some stuff out of your closet and recycle it into a new outfit. You don’t always have to buy something new to look and feel cute. In fact – I’ve been wearing these jeans for YEARS. I’ve found that by adding in new accessories you can switch up your look quite a bit. For this outfit throwing on a beret added a trendy little twist – and you may have noticed I’ve been a little beret obsessed lately. Case in point my recent post Bombers + Beret – I just can’t help it!

The best thing to do is to just pull out some of your favorite pieces and try them on together. For me, it’s really hard to visualize if I will like something together until I have it on. And a big factor in liking an outfit or not is how I feel in it. Do I feel confident in it? Do I feel comfortable? It’s the worst when  you wear something without trying it on and then have to spend all night readjusting. During your try-on session try adding in different accessories that you normally wouldn’t pair together. Try adding a scarf to your handbag, or wearing sneakers with a midi skirt. You might just surprise yourself and be totally inspired!

So next time you feel like you are in a outfit rut don’t feel like you have to rush out and buy a whole new wardrobe. Try incorporating a new pair of shoes, a fun scarf, or a hat into your outfits and see how much you can switch it up just with fresh accessories.

Do you guys have any great tips that you turn to when you are in an outfit rut? I would love to hear them – drop a comment below or feel free to email me (laurenjaine26@gmail.com) with questions or comments!

PS I made a cute little graphic below you can save to your desktop or phone and reference back to next time you are getting dressed and feel like you are in a rut!
