How to Wear Velvet This Season

How to wear velvetThe velvet trend this season is real you guys. Velvet has been one of my favorite fabrics for years now so you can only imagine my happiness right now. One quick walk through Nordstrom and you will see velvet popping up everywhere! I noticed velvet making it’s way into every department – from booties, to dresses, to top & pants, even jumpsuits (perfect NYE idea BTW).

Sephora Insider Sale

Have you guys shopped the Sephora Insider sale yet? I tried to be good this year and only re-stock on the items I am running low on but it’s so hard to resist some of their new products! I wanted to share a roundup of some of my favorite go-to products from Sephora with you! The sale ends tonight 11/15 at 11:59 midnight MST so you still have time! Click HERE to shop!

IT Cosmetics CC cream – I have been using this stuff for the past year or so now and I absolutely love it. I can’t lie, I have switched to a full coverage foundation on some days but on the days I am trying to keep my makeup low key this is the stuff I reach for. It is actually considered a full coverage color-correcting cream so it does do a pretty good job in that area but I also love that it keeps you looking dewy, has SPF 50+ Sunscreen, and antiaging properties as well (can’t go wrong with that – amirite?!).

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara – I have also been using this mascara for a while now and am still obsessed! I alternate between this and the L’Oreal Lash Paradise as I feel like that one is a good dupe for the Too Faced one, and half the price. This mascara really makes my eyelashes pop! I like to apply multiple coats though – that’s just me! It looks great with just a coat or two though if you want to keep it natural.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation stick – This is the full coverage foundation I mentioned above, and you guys – it’s SO good! At first I didn’t see what all the rage (or the price tag) was about. Then, I was chatting with a girlfriend and realized I just wasn’t applying enough. Once I went in with a little more product I totally got why people are obsessed with this stuff. It is the most full coverage foundation I think I’ve ever used personally which of course not everyone needs. Me? I need it right now because I am trying to cover up some melasma that came up while I was pregnant. This stuff does such a good job at covering it and keeping a little bit of the dewy look I like.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter – You guys have probably already read and heard so much about this product but it is my absolute favorite highlighter. I had originally bough the champagne pop color of this highlighter and that was my holy grail until I tried Opal after getting a sample with my points from Sephora. I love the color of this one on my skin. Honestly, I think it depends on your skin tone as far as which one is going to work best for you – if you are fair to medium you will probably love this one.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder – I bought this stuff back in January and use it almost every single day. I only use a little bit so I am legit still using the one I bought in January. I like to use it under my eyes and all over my face on days I really want my makeup to stay. When I first got it I used way too much on the under eye area and it caused a crepey looking effect so be sure to tap your brush off before applying it to areas that you might have small lines/wrinkles.

Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm – I received this lippie a month or two back in collaboration with Dior and now I find myself reaching for it on the regular. I tend to alternate between this and the Dior Addict Lacquer Stick (I have shade ‘poisonous’). These are both super moisturizing and I love that the reviver balm is more of a sheer balm that is meant to bring out your lips natural color. I used to always love a bold lip but as I got older I kind of got away from it and couldn’t find colors that I felt really complimented my skin tone. Now I look for colors that are similar to my lip color and just work on enhancing what I already have going on.

I put a few of my other favorites for you below as well! Scroll through and don’t forget to use code 20FORBVIB for 20% if you are VIB status or INSIDER15 for 15% off for beauty insiders! Anyone can become an insider which just allows you to earn points to redeem for fun gifts! Sign up here!

Best Statement Jackets Under $100

What to wear with over-the-knee boots

Statement jackets are to fall like a good pair of sunglasses are to summer. WAIT – Who am I kidding? A good pair of sunglasses are kind of necessary year-round. No? I just love a good statement coat though. That and boots are my favorite things to buy for fall. Here is San Diego I can get by with a coat that is not made to withstand the polar vortex so we can have a little bit of fun with it. I am sure all of you southern California babes can relate though – it does get pretty chilly here in the winter months. More than most people might expect. I remember when I first moved to San Diego I seriously thought I wouldn’t need a coat or a jacket all year. I just thought California was always hot. Newsflash – I was wrong!

The Important of Taking Time to Mentally ‘Reset’

Blogging tips Happy Monday babes! I apologize for the lack of posts on my blog over the past couple of weeks. I have been going through one of these…funks (I guess you could call it that). I would be lying to myself and all of you if I said that as bloggers we don’t go through these time periods of feeling un-inspired. I think it is important that as content creators we sometimes step away from everything for a little bit.
