Sephora Insider Sale

Have you guys shopped the Sephora Insider sale yet? I tried to be good this year and only re-stock on the items I am running low on but it’s so hard to resist some of their new products! I wanted to share a roundup of some of my favorite go-to products from Sephora with you! The sale ends tonight 11/15 at 11:59 midnight MST so you still have time! Click HERE to shop!

IT Cosmetics CC cream – I have been using this stuff for the past year or so now and I absolutely love it. I can’t lie, I have switched to a full coverage foundation on some days but on the days I am trying to keep my makeup low key this is the stuff I reach for. It is actually considered a full coverage color-correcting cream so it does do a pretty good job in that area but I also love that it keeps you looking dewy, has SPF 50+ Sunscreen, and antiaging properties as well (can’t go wrong with that – amirite?!).

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara – I have also been using this mascara for a while now and am still obsessed! I alternate between this and the L’Oreal Lash Paradise as I feel like that one is a good dupe for the Too Faced one, and half the price. This mascara really makes my eyelashes pop! I like to apply multiple coats though – that’s just me! It looks great with just a coat or two though if you want to keep it natural.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation stick – This is the full coverage foundation I mentioned above, and you guys – it’s SO good! At first I didn’t see what all the rage (or the price tag) was about. Then, I was chatting with a girlfriend and realized I just wasn’t applying enough. Once I went in with a little more product I totally got why people are obsessed with this stuff. It is the most full coverage foundation I think I’ve ever used personally which of course not everyone needs. Me? I need it right now because I am trying to cover up some melasma that came up while I was pregnant. This stuff does such a good job at covering it and keeping a little bit of the dewy look I like.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter – You guys have probably already read and heard so much about this product but it is my absolute favorite highlighter. I had originally bough the champagne pop color of this highlighter and that was my holy grail until I tried Opal after getting a sample with my points from Sephora. I love the color of this one on my skin. Honestly, I think it depends on your skin tone as far as which one is going to work best for you – if you are fair to medium you will probably love this one.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder – I bought this stuff back in January and use it almost every single day. I only use a little bit so I am legit still using the one I bought in January. I like to use it under my eyes and all over my face on days I really want my makeup to stay. When I first got it I used way too much on the under eye area and it caused a crepey looking effect so be sure to tap your brush off before applying it to areas that you might have small lines/wrinkles.

Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm – I received this lippie a month or two back in collaboration with Dior and now I find myself reaching for it on the regular. I tend to alternate between this and the Dior Addict Lacquer Stick (I have shade ‘poisonous’). These are both super moisturizing and I love that the reviver balm is more of a sheer balm that is meant to bring out your lips natural color. I used to always love a bold lip but as I got older I kind of got away from it and couldn’t find colors that I felt really complimented my skin tone. Now I look for colors that are similar to my lip color and just work on enhancing what I already have going on.

System Professional | My Energy Code

best hair care products

Have you ever found yourself wishing there was a line of hair care products that was meant specifically for YOUR hair? Wouldn’t that just be the best?! Well the truth is there is a line of products that was built to cater to YOUR individual hair care needs and I had the chance to try it out first hand!

The luxury hair care line System Professional has created something called EnergyCode Mapping that is designed to generate a very specific EnergyCode to re-energize your hair. The EnergyCode correlates with specific products from their line which allows you to get a customized set of products meant to target your specific hair care needs. Just like your fingerprint, no two strands of hair are identical – yours is different than anyone else’s.  It’s unique and has unique needs that allow it to look its absolute best. Some of us might need a deep conditioning treatment while others might need a color saving shampoo. And then, like me, there’s some of us who need both. System Professional Hair Care

If you follow me on Instagram you might remember seeing my recent trip to Bavaria, Germany. While I was there I had the opportunity to spend the day learning all about the science behind EnergyCodes with the System Professional team. We spent the day at the award winning medical spa, Lanserhof, which is an absolutely stunning and tranquil health resort nestled in the Bavarian Alps where System Professional is available. Not only did I get to speak to the scientist who actually spends his days creating these products, but I also had the chance to receive my own EnergyCode.

I don’t know about you but I am not someone who typically gets really excited about the science behind something. However, I find when it comes to beauty products that is an entirely different story! Their products are infused with lipids, histidine, caffeine, and vitamin B3 amide to make your hair looks it’s most beautiful! A lot of those words might not mean a whole lot to you unless of course you spend your spare time researching beauty products. But, to give you an overview of these ingredients, they are meant to help hair stay strong, protect against damage from free radicals, keep hair energized, and keep the moisture balance in check on the scalp to maintain strong + healthy hair growth. You can read more about the science behind each of these ingredients on their site here:

System Professional Hair CareAfter learning all about the science behind EnergyCodes I then had the opportunity to sit down with one of their hair care professionals for a hair mapping session where I was prescribed my own unique EnergyCode – which represents my own unique set of products. With that I was whisked off to the salon on site where I got to see my EnergyCode in action! My hair was washed, dried, treated, and blown out to reveal an entirely refreshed and re-energized ‘do. After using my specific products on my hair just one time I honestly could feel a difference already. My hair felt extremely soft and bouncy but was not weighed down, which is something that can happen easily with my fine hair! What I love about having a personalized EnergyCode is that I am actually able to pinpoint products that will cater to the specific needs of my hair. Not only that but they also smell amazing and the combination of your unique EnergyCode creates your own unique hair care scent too!

My personalized EnergyCode is: V1 + X1S + C2 + H3 + R5

Mini Makeup Haul

Favorite sephora makeup productsHi guys! Ah, I know I am little MIA lately on the blog. But I do usually try to post consistently on IG so feel free to follow me there for more regular updates, @blameitonbarneys. And, if you do already follow me there you probably saw my mini Sephora haul awhile back on my IG Stories! I went to return an item and left with a handful of new items to try- always happens! Some are tried and true products that I know and love and others I was trying for the first time or giving a second chance. Thought I would take to the blog to let you know what I thought of everything!

Dior Diorskin Forever Perfect Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 35- Color 020 Light Beige

Let me start with saying I am not someone who really wears foundation. But 22978 hours of breastfeeding later I kinda got hooked to YouTube makeup tutorials and a lot of people were LOVING this stuff so I wanted to give it a try! I have always been self conscious about my skin (as far as pore size, unevenness etc.) so this was definitely something I was hoping would work as it is supposed to have a ‘pore-refining effet’. I can honestly say that YES it did seem to make my pores look a tad smaller, and really made my face look smoother overall. One thing I wasn’t crazy about is this has a matte finish. I typically use the IT Cosmetics CC cream which leaves much more of a dewy look which I love so going to something with a matte look is a little different for me, not gonna lie. I do feel it made my skin look much more flawless though, which of course I loved! And the best part it literally lasts all day long. Let’s just say, I have been using it a lot since going back to work last week! As for the matte finish I found if I add a touch of face oil (this one is my FAVORITE multi purpose oil) and mix it in with the foundation it give me that dewy look I am used to!

Becca Mineral Blush Color ‘Flowerchild’

First of all, I LOVE Becca products. I have had one of their highlighters (champagne pop was the shade I had which I really considering re-ordering) which I loved until I broke it to pieces and now can’t really use it – ugh! Sidenote – if anyone knows how to fix this let me know! Anyhow, back to the blush! I wanted to try this because it has so many good reviews and I wasn’t disappointed! It is a peachy pink tone which I love for spring – not TOO pink like some blushes can be. It adds that touch of rosy cheeks you are looking for without going overboard. I also love that if I DO want more color I can build this product nicely.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow DefinerColor ‘Taupe’

Okay this is one I have tried previously and wanted to try it again (thank you YouTube tutorials haha!)… anyhow I guess what I didn’t like about it before I still don’t like about it. I mean don’t get me wrong, this is a GREAT product but for me it just isn’t the best. I usually use their Brow Wiz pencil which works better for me because it is a lot more precise, the tip is super tiny compared to the brow definer which is an angled tip. I have pretty scarce eyebrows so I think this could have something to do with it. I like having the tiny tip that I can add little strokes to make it resemble hair more. I think I am going to keep it just because, but in the future I am going back to the brow wiz.

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip LacquerColor ‘Pretty Thing’

This was the item I went to return, I had previously purchased it in the color ‘sugar sugar’ which is a GORGEOUS nude. But, I am no makeup guru and couldn’t figure out how to get that shade to look good on my skin tone. Anyone who has tips on how to rock a nude with fairly pale skin please let me know! So, I exchanged it for something with a little more pigment, which is the shade ‘pretty thing’. I LOVE this shade. It is referred to as a ‘muted rose’ color on the sephora site. I feel like this shade blends better with my natural lip color (they are pretty pigmented already) and looks natural but pretty! I have also been layering it over my Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick in ‘stoned rose’ and am OBSESSED!

Anastasia Beverly Hills – Glow Kit

This is a highlighting palette so you get not one, but FOUR highlighters! Again, the reviews on this online were pretty amazing so I wanted to give it a try since I was in need of a new highlighter. The colors this comes with are Bronzed, Tourmaline, Summer, & Moonstone. My favorite is tourmaline – it is a little darker than summer and moonstone but I love the way it looks! I like that I am able to mix different highlighting shades with this palette to create a custom highlight! Definitely recommend this for any ladies who like to highlight!! Also, the shades are much more shimmery in person than on the Sephora website!

Drybar DETOX Dry Shampoo

I am that girl who actually prefers baby powder as her dry shampoo of choice. It doesn’t hurt that my hair is blonde either because if I am being really real – baby powder actually makes my hair look lighter when it is looking dull! However, I thought I should venture out and try an actual dry shampoo and since I have heard so many good things about this one I wanted to try it! I actually LOVE this stuff. It has a scent which I kind of love because it makes you feel fresher. My main problem with most dry shampoos is that they usually make my hair super stiff and not manageable. I don’t get that from this one – I am still able to smoothly brush through my hair without it feeling super hard and dry. Def will be re-purchasing this stuff when it runs out which will probably be soon due to the fact I have been using it everyday lol!

Some of my other beauty favs:

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara – This stuff seriously makes your lashes look SUPER long and thick. Have been using for over a year now and it’s my absolute favorite. You seriously need this.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer – I have also been using this one for over a year. Perfect to cover up under eye circles, blemishes, etc. Doesn’t look cake-y or thick, makes you look super natural still.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter in ‘Champagne Pop’ – Absolutely LOVE this stuff. As I mentioned above mine broke but I have to repurchase this because I just love the color and how it applies to the skin. Update – I recently receive their highlighter sample in OPAL and absolutely love this shade too!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer – I recently bought this stuff and it gives you that natural bronze – not that orange color some bronzers give. I love that it isn’t shimmery either – it gives the right amount of color and allows you to build if you want.

What are your guys’ favorite or go-to makeup products?

Saturday Skincare Essentials

blogger skincare favoritesMy skincare favorites are always changing. Based on the season, my skin, and what new products are out I am constantly trying new things to improve my skin. Having a child wreaks havoc on your hormones, and ultimately your skin. For me the biggest change in my skin was with developing melasma or “pregnancy mask” which is basically dark splotches on your face – ugh. Mine occurred under and around the eyes but also over the lip giving me a shadowy mustache, the worst! I have been using Eminence Bright skin Licorice root brightening serum to try to combat this – I’ve seen Lauryn Evarts from The Skinny Confidential raving about this product for this specific reason so I am hoping and praying it does the trick!

Get rid of melasma fast

I’ve also been mindful of what types of chemicals I am putting on my face since have being pregnant and now that I am nursing. In general I try to keep my products as natural as possible – unless I just REALLY have to combat something and there isn’t a natural alternative!

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Amala Purifying Face Polish  – I received this product to try this past month and it has honestly made such a difference on my skin already. I’ve always struggled with oil or combination skin and large pores and I am loving that this face wash has finely crushed bamboo that help to gently exfoliate my skin while cleaning it daily. It also has green tea which is a super powerful antioxidant and is beneficial on so many levels including in skin care.

blogger skincare favoritesNuxe Multipurpose Dry Oil – This is a product I have been using since I found out I was pregnant. I love that this oil has SO many different uses. I typically put it on my face after cleansing in the morning and use it as a moisturizer. I also love wearing it under my makeup as it gives me more of  a ‘glow’ and works as a primer. The oil is also designed to be used on your body or hair as well so it definitely is worth the buy. I am thinking of trying the Nuxe oil with shimmer for when I want a little more of a glow.

blogger skincare favoritesHanalei Lip Treatment – I received one of these in my Ipsy bag about a month or two back and it honestly couldn’t have come at a better time. My lips had been cracking and just all around super rough. I started using this every night before I went to bed and I am not lying when I say it is the only thing that improved my lips. I was using regular chapstick in the day and it felt like it was almost making my lips worse. When I started using this it was if they were being healed – I was obsessed. And then of course I lost my tube of it – haha! Never fails. I ordered more on amazon the next day and am back to using it every night. When I wake up to feed my little guy a couple hours after going to bed it is still on my lips. Crazy good.

blogger skincare favoritesCharlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in ‘stoned rose’ – I originally tried this product because I wanted a lipstick that actually was good for my lips while giving me some color. These lipsticks have an antioxidant called ‘lipstick tree’ (not too sure what that is!?) but it is supposed to protect lips from UV damage which I am all for!!
